Some quick, simple advice and things to consider when setting up your first fish tank aquarium:
- Before buying new fish do your research to make sure what you pick is compatible with each other.
- Carefully inspect new fish in the store before buying them. Look for damaged fins or gills.
- When adding new fish, allow the bag to float for around 15 minutes to equalize the temperature.
- It’s easier to maintain the temperature of a larger aquarium, so if you can afford the price of a 20 gallon tank, then do so.
- Change-out at least 25% of the water each month.
- Feed fish twice a day – Do not overfeed!
